Now Taking Student Applications:
The Network and the Planning Committee for the South Dakota Victim Assistance Academy are excited to announce that they are now taking student applications for the Basic SDVAA that will be held in Pierre June 11-15th at the Capitol University Center. A limit of 30 students will be selected to attend. The Basic SDVAA will provide a 40 hour comprehensive, academic, interdisciplinary and interactive training program for crime victim service providers, advocates, allied professionals and others who work with crime victims. These students will be entry level professionals with 0-5 years of experience in their respective field. a comprehensive curriculum using adult learning theory will be utilized by instructors.
The registration fee is $225 and is NOT due until the student is accepted to attend. Applications will be taken until March 9th, and students will be notified of acceptance by April 13th.

Free Civil Legal Services for Domestic Violence, Dating Violence, Sexual Assault and Stalking Survivors in EASTERN South Dakota
An attorney at The Compass Center in Sioux Falls is now accepting referrals for survivors who are needing civil legal assistance as a result of domestic violence, dating violence, sexual assault, and/or stalking. These services are FREE and are available to any survivor east of the Missouri River

An attorney at Working Against Violence, Inc. (WAVI) in Rapid City is now accepting referrals for survivors who are needing civil legal assistance as a result of domestic violence, dating violence, sexual assault, and/or stalking. These services are FREE and are available to any survivor west of the Missouri River

Free Civil Legal Immigration Services for Domestic Violence, Sexual Violence and/or Stalking Survivors Available Statewide
The Network is excited to announce that Taneeza Islam is now able to take civil legal immigration cases that are related to domestic violence, sexual violence, and/or stalking. This service is free for clients, and she is available to take cases from across the state. This is made available through our Legal Assistance for Victims grant project.
