Listening Sessions will be held this Fall on the following dates and locations:
- September 12th: Aberdeen-3pm CT at the KO Lee Aberdeen Public Library
- September 25th: Rapid City- 4-6 pm MT at Engel & Volkers -Address is 517 Main St. Rapid City
- September 26th: Mitchell- 3pm CT Mitchell Public Library
- October 7 Yankton- 5:30pm CT Location To Be Announced
- October 8: Pierre- 6pm CT Red Rossa
- October 10 Sioux Falls- location and time to be announced
- October 21 Vermillion- 6pm CT Vermillion Public Library – Kozak room
Listening Sessions will
- Bring awareness of domestic violence, sexual assault, and the many intersections of violence in the SD communities
- Provide education and awareness regarding the need for victim services and what services are offered
- Educate and bring awareness about the funding reductions for SD victim services, specifically VOCA and the history
- Make connections, networking, and build support for the agencies, the work, and for legislators to champion legislation to financial support victim services in SD
Suggested audience: board members, donors, elected officials such as county commissioners, city officials, legislators, and others running for an office in the upcoming general election, survivors, and community members
